Wide Nose Reduction in Korea

Narrow a broad nasal bridge and base so the nose sits in proportion with your eyes and face.

Wide nose surgery

Slimmer lines, sharper features

In short

Wide nose reduction narrows a broad bridge and, when needed, wide nostrils. At YUNO a wide bony bridge is narrowed by nasal bone osteotomy, often combined with hump reduction, while wide or flared nostrils are corrected with alar reduction. Tip width is refined separately with cartilage techniques.

A nose can look wide for three different reasons: a broad bony bridge, a bulbous tip or flared nostrils. Each requires a different technique, so we identify which part makes your nose look wide before planning.

Why the cause matters

Bone, tip and nostrils each add to width. Narrowing only the bridge while leaving a wide base can make proportions look off.

Technique

How the surgery is tailored

Osteotomy for a wide bridge

The nasal bones are precisely cut and moved inward to narrow the bony bridge.

Hump and bridge reshaping

If a hump is present, it is reduced before osteotomy so the bridge narrows smoothly.

Alar base reduction

Excess nostril skin is removed or the base is cinched inward to narrow wide nostrils.

Tip refinement

Wide tip cartilage is trimmed and gathered so the tip matches the slimmer bridge.

Materials

Implants & autologous tissue

The right material depends on your skin, the condition of your nose and the shape you want. Your surgeon will explain the options at consultation.

Material Type Typical use
Silicone Implant Raises the bridge and creates a smooth line
Gore-Tex Implant Porous surface lets tissue grow in for close adhesion
AlloDerm Processed human dermis Covers thin skin over the bridge or adds tip height
Ear cartilage Autologous Tip shaping and lengthening
Septal cartilage Autologous Tip projection and nose lengthening
Rib cartilage Autologous Strong support with ample volume, often for revision
Dermis & fascia Autologous Soft-tissue padding under thin skin, reduces implant show

FAQ

Wide Nose Reduction: questions

Does narrowing the bridge require breaking the bone?

A wide bony bridge is narrowed with controlled osteotomies. Bruising and swelling around the eyes are common for the first week or two.

Can I narrow my nose without osteotomy?

If the width comes from the tip or nostrils rather than the bone, tip refinement or alar reduction alone may be enough.

Will a narrower nose affect breathing?

The surgeon plans the narrowing with the airway in mind, using 3D-CT findings to protect nasal function.

Can wide nose reduction be combined with other procedures?

Yes. It is frequently combined with hump removal, tip plasty or alar reduction in one surgery.
